Ruger American Gen 2 In the House!

Finally! I managed to get my hands on a RUGER AMERICAN G2 PRED RFL 7MM-08REM 22" T.B. SPRIAL BBL, GRN SPLTR,BRNT BRNZ 3RD for $503.99 plus tax (I got the last 7MM). I got it from Gunzonedeals. But, I wish I had checked their site earlier b/c it looks like they got a new batch of Ruger Am Gen II Predators 18 different calibers and sold out and they only had 4 calibers remaining, The one I got, 204 Ruger, 450 Bushmaster, 6mm ARC, and 6.5mm Gren. I was looking for a PRC caliber but they had none. And I went with 7mm b/c I didn’t know anything about the other 3 calibers. What caliber would have you gone for out of the 3 they currently have in stock?

Jim,
I am curious, what scope and mount did you put on your Ruger American Gen II? Brand and power please? my Gen II Predator 7mm-30 will be delivered to my FFL store tomorrow and I will be making a trip out there on the 5/18 to get the background check going and also to take a scope and mounts along and have the gunsmith mount it for me. I just would like to get an idea what you ended up mounting on yours. Thanks.

Sorry, I’m traveling and can’t remember what scope I had on that one.

It comes with a picatinny tail so just picatinny rings.

Here’s what I’d recommend for scopes at each price point. 15 Best Rifle Scopes for Hunting in 2024 – Backfire

I went to my gunshop today to start the background check for my Ruger American gen II predator that came in a couple of weeks ago but i had to wait till today to be 30 days since the purchase of the last rifle which is the Berretta BRX1 in 6.5cr. I also had the gunsmith mount one of my scopes, Vortex Venum 3-15/44 FFP. Plus three other rifles as well.
On my Benelli LUPO BEST 300WM got a Steiner Predator 8 4-32/56 SFP, then Weatherby Mark V 300 WBY MAG Lazerby Trijicon Tenmile 5-50/56 and the 4th one for today was my my Noreen BN36 300 WM with another Trijicon Tenmile 4-24/50. I have attached a few pics. 1 Benelli 2&3 Weatherby 4 Noreen and 5 Berretta BRX1.

Regarding the Ruger American gen 2, I finally had a chance to try one out a little bit, and I have to say, I still like the CVA Cascade a lot more. The action and trigger are just so much nicer to use on the CVA (and it doesn’t look as weird). Granted, the CVA is $100 more, but I feel like that $100 would be well spent if someone were trying to decide between the two. The other “budget” one I want to try is the Savage 110 Trail Hunter Lite (which is still 7 lbs., but way less than its chunkier brother). Still have a feeling the CVA holds on to its title though…

What do you like better about the Gen 2 over the cascade? Is it the accuracy alone that puts it over the CVA?

I agree, I think the Cascade is amazing for the price mibe is is 300 Win Mag.
I just purchased a Cacade XT in 6.5prc now to find time to shoot it.
