Anyone got their hand on an American gen 2 yet? Curious to see if there were any improvements on stock feel and feeding? The new stock looks a lot cooler just wondering if anyone has an opinion yet.
I haven’t seen one in-person yet. I too am curious if they have improved the feeding. I have a Savage rifle that occasionally fails to pick up a round out of the magazine. It’s frustrating. So hopefully Ruger has addressed the feeding issues. As for my opinion on the new stock, I’m not a fan. The cheek riser is fine, but I would have preferred they go with a modern stock line with a more vertical pistol grip or a traditional stock with the riser. Of course, it’s possible the ergos are great in actual shooting. Look forward to hearing from someone that has shot one.
my ruger feeding seems to be a magazine problem. I have the ranch and changed from pmag to another and it works better. I will say I have not done extensive testing.
I think you had mentioned this on here before, so I tried it on mine. You’re right! the pmag works way better than the included magpul magazine. It sounds like Ruger’s own factory magazine (flush fit) had a similar problem. I have never used one that had the AICS pattern mags though so I’m not sure if there has been an improvement. Will be interesting to hear from others first.
We have shot my daughter’s 6.5 creedmoor several times now. It’s the charcoal grey model. The magazine is a little finicky, but otherwise I love it. Bolt and action seem to function very well.
The predator model also looks cool with the green stock and copper barrel.
I have shot my buddies Gen 2. The stock feels a little more grippy to me than then gen 1. It also has an adjustable cheek piece (you can buy different heights I think), so that improves the cheek weld a bit. I think the fore end is still pretty thin, round and flexible. Still cheap feeling. I would buy a different stock if I were you. You will be alot happier with a more modern grip angle. MDT’s black friday sale is coming up!
