Ruger RPR Caliber Question

Hi everyone,
I would like to hear it from you guys, if anyone has had a Ruger Precision Rifle.
I have one on order for a 338 LM, but now I am thinking to switch it to 300 PRC (Looked up the cost of ammo, 300 PRC is almost 50% less than comparable 338 LM) after the PRC caliber discussions on this board.
I already own two 338 LM (A SAKO TRG 42 & A CA MESA LR, and I have a SAKO TRG 42A 338 LM on top of my list of rifles to get).
So, would you keep the 338 LM? Or would you switch to 300 PRC?
BTW, I have no PRC caliber in my acquistions so far.
Thanks

Sounds like a 300 PRC is in your future. Shouod a a cool platform for shooting at a mile or more.

I have an RPR in 338.

It’s a nice rifle, I enjoy shooting it. But I should preface with the facts that:

  1. I don’t shoot it that often, maybe every other month or so.

  2. When I do shoot it it’s typically just a few rounds.

  3. I haven’t shot it further than 500 yd yet because I can’t find any place to shoot it that has a longer range at this point.

I don’t have any other 338 experience to compare it to. I’m not sure that I’d want a 338 in a typical hunting weight rifle.

The muzzle break is very effective, recoil feels about like a 30-06. I have yet to shoot it with a suppressor attached.

Yeah, it’s definitely on the expensive side for ammo.

Don’t have a 300 PRC to compare it to. Heck I do have a 300 Winchester magnum, and it rarely comes out of the safe either.

Well, I tried. He didn’t go for an exchange b/c he had already ordered it and set aside for me to complete the payment plan. This will be my third 338 LM. Well, next rifle.
Carter, majority my rifles are 300 WM as well. That’s what i started with.
