Hey Jim,
I know you have tested and reviewed both the Sako S20 and Sako 90 Quest.
What’s your option on the two rifles?
What the differences?
Is the Quest worth the extra money?
The other option that caught my eye is the Sako 90 Adventure.
Unfortunately I don’t have access to them to look and hold them before buying, so want any extra info before I order one would be fantastic!
I am thinking between the 7 Rem Mag and the 300 Win Mag.
Hi Matt ,Jim will probably be better to add more here but he commented my post last week to say that the S20 in 300Wm is a very nice gun and extremely accurate.
I got the S20 in 300wm and the Sako 90 adventure in 308( it’s about 1lbs lighter than the 90 in 300wm)
I let you know how the 90 feels, I had to buy blind cause I live too far.
If the money isn’t an issue I touch the Sako quest once and WOW !!
If you are in Canada there is a 10-12 % off most rifle at this time. I got 480$ off my Sako 90
I did a lot of research before I bought my S20 (in 7RM). For the money, I felt it was the best option for me, with my requirement to have a high accuracy, quality long-distance rifle.
Having taken my S20 (with muzzle break) to a range near my Mom in AZ, shortly after I purchased I was pleasantly surprised at how accurate the rifle is out to 300yds. There was very little recoil (to me) which was nice as I did have concerns that 7rem-mag would kick (though not as hard as 300WM).
Now I will say that accuracy is always going to be shooter dependent, but for me to shoot less than 0.5" MOA at 300yds after sighting the rifle in at 200yds right out of the gate…I was very impressed.
Some people don’t care for the ‘plasticy’ feel of the stock and fore-end, but it really isn’t bad feeling to me! I have both the hunter and the precision stock and feel like I can shoot the rifle in either configuration!!!
If you go Sako 90 quest, I think you do it for the fit and finish of a gorgeous carbon fiber stock.
If you pick a Sako 90 with a cheaper stock, they do look really nice still but I might just bounce down to an S20. It is an EXCEPTIONAL rifle for that price point.
Hi Pete,
What glass do you have mounted on yours?
I have the exact same stock set up as yours. I bought both hunter and precision as well plus a Leupold on my 300 WM.
This SAKO was my second rifle acquistion next to my Browning BAR MK II . I got mine from EuroOptics. They gave me a great deal on the whole thing. Plus, They have a 60-day layaway plan which I took advantage of. They are one of my primary suppliers.
