I was out at the range yesterday with my AR-15, which has a Vortex 1-6x LPVO on it currently. It’s a great set up for hitting steel out at distance.
But, I would really like to play around with different ammo to get it shooting tight groups. Does anyone have recommendations for a scope to put on an AR-15?
I know I can put any hunting optic on it with 15x magnification, but I’m also looking for something that goes with platform, if that makes sense.
I think it depends on your budget but I’m not sure if you’ve seen this guy’s reviews but I picked up one of these athlons that I put on a 18” criterion 223 Wylde spr build and I like it. You could definitely go more expensive with something like the mark 5hd 3.6-18 or 2-10. But this little Athlon is pretty fun and isn’t quite as expensive. Especially if you can get it on sale.
I put a Leupold VX3-HD 4.5-14x50mm on mine for deer hunting. Great clarity, good eye box, and more than enough zoom power for the 100-150yrd hunting i use it for.
I have been thinking about this exact question…the only thing that I have found (for Texas hog hunting) that might help you out is SwampFox Optics makes a LPVO that is an illuminated 1-10 power option. My eyes are getting old enough that I’m either going the 1-10 LPVO route or a 2-12 route. Just a suggestion
