Does anyone have any experience with the Seekins Havak PH3 rifles? They are now offering them chambered in 25 Creedmoor and with the ability to swap barrels, I’m seriously considering buying one. Eventually I would like to also have the 6.5 Creedmoor, 308 Winchester, and 6.5 PRC barrels to use. Any thoughts or recommendations would be greatly appreciated!!!
Jim if I were to get one, would you be interested in doing an in-depth review of the rifle?
Got one in 6.5PRC, the NRL Hunter edition. Wanted a little extra weight and liked the color scheme.
Only have 40 rounds through it so far. One box of factory eldx, and one box of factory Berger Elite. Average five shot group size for the ELDX is 0.9, while for the Berger it’s 0.7 MOA.
I fully intend to change it to something else, I have another 6.5PRC which does amazing with the Berger factory ammo. Probably a 22 something or 25 something. Of course I could go the other direction and make it a 7SAUM ( don’t need another) or 300WSM ( also don’t need another).
I own two of them (300 win mag and 277 sig fury) and both shoot very well. I have another on backorder and will definitely purchase the 25 cm when it’s available. I was excited to read (and verify on the website) them coming out with the 25 cm. I truly don’t think you can go wrong with a Seekins!
I would definitely want to confirm that twist rate before buying a 25 cm. The 1:8 will not stabilize some of the new specific for 25 cm and 25 RPM bullets such as the Barnes lrx.
I purchased one in 7PRC, and I’m pleased with it thus far. I’ve heard there were some firing pin issues which required bolts to be rebuilt…? I personally haven’t had any issues and the gun shoots damn fine.
I have one in 300WM and was surprised at how well it mitigated the recoil. Maybe the heavy coat helped, but was extremely light recoil compared to what I was expecting. It’s accurate too!
Only other thing I would say is I’m not so sure the barrel swap thing is such a huge advantage. I like the idea in principal, especially if I’m looking to have a different caliber long term, but my experience with the Thompson Center Encore has taught me that is rather just have a rifle in each of those cabinets rather than be swapping out barrels. That said, it’s far more affordable to have the whole gun in a TC Encore than the whole gun in a Seekins.
My main point is that it’s nice to have that option, but it’s not as convenient as it sounds.
