Serial number location on older browning bolt action

I wanted to add a backfire recoil pad on an older browning .30-06 handed down from my grandfather. Prerequisites for upgrading the pad is knowing what model for proper fit.

I’ve looked on the web and ChatGPT for the location of the sn. Found good info, but the locations suggested, no sn exists on my rifle. Nothing on the right side near the front ejection port or under side of the barrel.

There is a number printed on the side of the barrel; L123 but these don’t line up with any serial format published by browning. Note: Made in Belgium is printed on it too.

Help me save my wife’s shoulder the same way Jim saved mine with 300 winmag!

I’m not sure where the serial number would be but for finding the right pad, if you send us the precise length from top to bottom of pad, distance between screws from center to center, and distance from top to center of top screw hole, we can search it in our database to see what pad fits it. Preferable to send measurements in mm.
