I have a 6.5 Creed I have weighted at 15lbs. It’s shoots multiple ammo sub moa already (except Sig Platinum, that one was like 2.5). But, it doesn’t feel steady. I have a bipod and a rear bag I love, the Crosstac Tactial Rear Squeeze. I have 2lbs of weight in the front, nothing in the back. Banish 30 gen 1 on the barrel
Does anyone have any advice about out balance a rifle so that it is steadier on target?
It sounds front heavy. Is this weight from the bipod and suppressor or do you actually have dedicated weights on the front? This is probably how I’d approach it:
If dedicated weights…Remove the 2 lb up front. Shoot a few groups. See if that helps. If not, try movIng the weight around to a few spots on the rifle. I’d start at the butt and then in front of the mag well. Sometimes even just a few inches makes a big difference.
If the weight is from the bipod and suppressor…can you add more weight to the butt or in front of the mag well or are you limited to a certain amount of weight overall for the rifle (competition restrictions)?
Either way, you’ll usually find a sweet spot where the reticle settles naturally and the recoil tracks flatter.
Most people want the balance point 3 inches in front of the front of the mag well. If it just isn’t working well with a bipod, we really like the Caldwell tack driver.
