I am planning on using a pellet gun to get some additional rifle training but I want to practice practical shooting situations. Does anyone know of a good video for proper technique and gear for shooting in the kneeling/sitting position. I know those dont perform as well but I haven’t found a great one walking through positioning.
I don’t know if a good video, but if a tripod is in the budget, it’s the ultimate cheat code for hunting position accuracy in a kneeling, sitting, or standing position.
I helped a guy this week hunting who had a few near misses and then off a tripod he made a phenomenal shot at 360 yards.
I like Ryan Cleckner’s stuff. He has a book on shooting you can get on Amazon too. These are all good videos…
Looks like some awesome stuff, thanks!
Sling usage seems relevant to stable shooting positions. Learning to properly use a sling is another life goal of mine. lol. This riveting one will keep you on the edge of your seat. I bet the way a hunter in the field would benefit from the sling is similar to the early to mid 20th century infantryman. It seems that the modern tactical usage of a sling has evolved away from that old style mostly. I don’t know though. I was never military or LE. This is interesting stuff though…
I suggest you find an Appleseed event near you. https://appleseedinfo.org
First step is the 25yd shooting. They are all about shooting standing, kneeling, sitting and prone using a sling and .22lr. Great training for any shooter and especially for new ones.
I know Jim has
on them, but the Spartan lineup is very useful. I really like the springbok lineup for field positions from standing to prone.
This is my son shooting on the hoplite a few weeks ago. James Nash of the 6 ranch podcast is the mustached man calling the shot. His channel is another great resource.
