Shot Show 2024 Announcements

Hey @backfire, now that the Shot Show is open, What are you most excited about that is getting released this year? You mentioned earlier there are 2 rifles you are super excited about. What are those? Look forward to hearing about what you have to say.

And be sure to pester those manufacturers, like Ruger, who are going to release a (bolt-action) 22 ARC but not 22 Creedmoor. What gives?

Spent all day meeting with companies and seeing the new releases. Video coming out tomorrow. Our little team is working hard tonight to get the video ready.

Biggest release is a new $890 rifle from Christensen that honestly could cost $2,000 and nobody would bat an eye. It looks very impressive.

Talked to Ruger about 22 Creedmoor. I put them in touch with Derrick from Horizon and they are going to meet and discuss it. There’s some inside baseball issues with the business of 22 creed and the 2 year exclusivity deal that they are working through.

I’m actually really excited about the Gen 2 X-Bolt. I love the X-Bolt I have now in .300wm and I’m considering trading it in for a 7 PRC when they come out.

Anything new from tikka?

Just saw the video on YouTube.

That ranch model looks neat.

Not certain if I heard this correctly but did they say they were going to be doing more threading on the light/super light models?

Yes it looks like those Tikka superlite models have upgraded stocks and threading, but they carry a higher price than the “original” superlite too, which is too bad. The problem that I wanted to see resolved is that Tikka doesn’t offer threading in any gun under $1,000.

I thought the “ranch” models fell a bit flat. It’s similar to the scout concept except without the forward mounted scope option. So, it appears to be that the Drover (.308 model) is just the CTR with iron sights instead of a pic rail. No thanks, I’ll keep the one I got. Then there is the .223 model (Ranahan)… as a “ranch gun” this is slightly more interesting. Will need to see the pricepoint for these.

Oh there was one other announcement I’d seen somewhere–“Henry Supreme”–which is like an AR magazine fed lever action offered in 5.56 and 300 BLK, threaded. Another contender in that “ranch rifle” category.

I think tikka really dropped the ball this year

No mention if Tikka or Sako are going to produce 7 PRC’s?

I noticed that from Tikka while editing but didn’t follow up in the moment to ask about the cheaper models. I’ll ask them next time I chat with them.

No, they are SUPER slow with that kind of stuff.

Was Wilson Combat there with the NULA?

Saw Spomer review one not too long ago and it looked interesting. More old school style.

Jim did you get a chance to check out the nexus press by sac?

I missed SAC, and I’m not sure if Wilson was there. Never saw their booths.

@backfire - someone has most likely already told you this but you asked in your video about the CuT ammo. Cu is the chemical symbol for the element Copper. I can only then assume T is for tip so CuT = copper tipped.

My thoughts as well…
