Has anyone shot one of these? Was considering it in a 7prc, but at $2,700 it’s in the price range of some very nice rifles. Would love an opinion from @backfire on this versus some of the other chassi platforms, like a fierce. Thanks!
I have shot it twice and really liked it but both were at events so I wasn’t able to do any in depth testing. It’s got a Proof barrel and it’s chunky so it’s gotta be accurate. I’d go for it.
Johnny, did you ever pull the trigger on the Sawtooth in 7PRC?
I did not. They look awesome, but I decided I wanted to go with a 280ai, so had that built, using a Tikka action, OMR barrel and MDT Hnt 26 Chassis.
Aren’t the Tikka Ace pretty similar to the Sig’s? I see Euro Optic has them in stock, and with the cost savings could really upgrade a optics package
There’s this channel that has been using one,
Similar it seems. The two big differences I see are that the Tikka is 1lb heavier and it doesn’t have a folding buttstock.
Pretty different from the sawtooth. The sig has a proof carbon barrel, and a folding chassis, and is lighter. The tikka would probably be closer to the original sig cross, which is about $200 cheaper, and still has a folding chassis. I love tikkas, but I can’t make any sense of the chassis they built for the Ace. It doesn’t fold, and it’s heavy. Great if you want a precision rifle, but other than that, their chassis is useless to me as a hunting rifle, and I’d rather just have a stock.
Wasn’t Tikka supposed to be coming out with a folding chassis?
Agree that for a hunting rifle, a fixed chassis seems silly
They said the folding adapter would come out in 2026. But I’ll believe it when I see it. If it’s not at shot show, I doubt it’ll be this year.
Didn’t realize it came w/a proof barrel… I think you’d be hard pressed to build that gun like it sits for $2700
Anything you’re excited for at shot show?
