Sig Sawtooth vs Fierce Mtn Reaper 7 Prc

Thought on which to go with from the community?

I have posted questions before, but am to the point where I need to order my rifle ahead of a shooting class… wanting some help to decided what to order.

I was waiting to see what pricing would be for the Sig Sawtooth after the video at the Sig event.

I went with the Fierce Mountain Reaper. It has a 20" barrel, and is a .5 moa gun. Mine has a Burris Veracity 4-20x50 scope and a AB Raptor Reflex Suppressor. One of my favorite rifles.

Target was sighting in rifle. Started at about 11 o’clock wit 2 shots and moved down 2 shots at a time fine tuning. Each move was 2 shots same hole.

Very tough call. Both are great guns but I’d pick the Sig sawtooth. I think the more stout platform is better for the recoil of the 7 prc. Plus, you’re less likely to have QC issues.

Two questions….

First, what are your thought on the accuracy between the two? Groups on the reaper look nice above.

Secondly, how is the recoil with the reaper in 7 PRC? I have not shot a gun that light in a magnum cartridge.

I like how sturdy the sig looks, and how easy the barrel is to change down the road, but the reaper makes a compelling argument on weight and accuracy.

Thank you for the help.

The Sig weighs almost twice what the Reaper weighs. So it could be a problem if you are recoil sensitive. However I shoot from a Arca rail tripod, and I shoot suppressed. I also have been shooting 62 years and recoil doesn’t bother me.

I really love the Reaper. Like the photo here, when you get a good one, they are awesome. Mine is great.

However, I prefer a heavier platform for 7 prc, which adds to accuracy. I haven’t been able to do a real accuracy test on the Sig because I just shot it at a media event, but I am yet to meet a proof research barrel that isn’t supremely accurate.

It appears you are leaning to a chassis style rifle. If you would consider a more traditional stock, the Springfield checks a ton of boxes, has premium components and is priced appropriately. I just built an exact copy of this rifle ( Loneleak action) and spent $2k more than what the Boundry is going for.

Having to adjust my budget down…. So I am falling back to the Sig Cross in 6.5 cm.

However I need some help with what height rings to order? I am thinking of the vortex razor 4.5-22 or the NX8 4-32. What height of scope ring do you recommend?

Likely won’t have much time to order something else if I get it wrong ahead of a shooting class I am taking… so wanted to ask someone who would know.

Your help is appreciated!

I use low rings on my NX8’s.

I use tall on my Burris Veracity PH 4-20x50.

On the sig cross forums many recommend taller rings.
