Silencer times coming way down

Probably not news to most but times are getting a lot quicker. I bought 2 in early January this year and just got approvals for both today. So just under 2 months. I heard that is individual even faster. Mine are in trust.

Dang. That’s really fast. May need to pick up another.

Some get lucky and get them back faster. It’s not a first in first out thing though. I just looked and the trust one’s are being approved from Oct 2023-January 2024. I’m still waiting on mine from December 2023

I am learning that you really cannot have too many. I am at three now and think I need a couple more. Waiting for next sale! Certainly electronic is faster. Also maybe faster if you have been approved before. I got my last one in Nov 23 - so not long ago. I do think they are or have been overwhelmed and if there are ways for them to clear the pile faster they would. Maybe I give ATF too much credit?

I heard from a local shop that they’ve had a couple get approved before the customer left the store. But most time’s I’m hearing are 1- 2 months. I’m about a month into waiting on one myself. Hopefully I get it in time for spring bear season!

The local SOT I follow on Instagram posts some of their approvals and some are at 3 days. It’s wild.

I had one in jail through silencer central submitted in October, that got approved a week or so ago and I’m just waiting patiently for the law enforcement notification and shipping now.

The person at my local shop was advertising approvals in as little as three days. I called to ask about one that I had submitted back in November and they said that the ATF is working backwards and quickly approving new submissions and will work backwards through the backlog to the older submissions. Very frustrating that you can buy one today and get approved faster than the one I have already had submitted for months.

Yeah, something feels off about this. Can we hijack the thread to determine who can come up with the best conspiracy theory as to why this is happening? Lol

Came across this video, he explains it pretty good on what changed. https://youtu.be/e8asZZneWhE?si=OaJSZl6Mx0fztJO3

This will be good for local shops and us. The shops can stock cans and we can look at them in person and find what we want. The struggling dealers can sell more inventory. I wonder what happens to silencer central for online sales and their ez pay plan? A few months to pay for something that takes 3-5 days to get?

I finally bought a silencer through Capitol Armory in Texas. They mail it to your house

Saw a Silencer Co vid that said times in one day now if you are the only person on your trust.

I just picked up a JK Armament 155 VERSAX 30 modular can. My SilencerShop eFile was completed and submitted on Friday April 5th…I was approved and picked up my can on Tuesday April 9th. Absolutely insane how fast they’re moving these along right now. There was 4 other guys in the gun shop with approvals that were less than a week picking theirs up as well. I honestly didn’t even need another suppressor. I already have 6, but I wanted to see how fast I could get one with everything I’ve been seeing.

Yeah, I’m thinking more and more this is going to push people to purchase their cans from local dealers that have them actually in stock instead of the online dealers.

I should be getting one in the UPS later this week that was approved about 3 weeks ago. It takes 3 weeks to run through all the protocols to get one shipped to your house. So even if the approvals are done in just a couple of days you’re still looking at roughly a month before you get your suppressor. On the other hand if it’s in stock at a local dealer then you can have it as soon as the form 4 clears.

On the other hand, thinking a little more about this. Both of my local dealers that stock suppressors use silencer shop for their processing. In the past I’ve noted silencer shop to take several days or even several weeks to get the form 4 submitted.

At some point I’ll have to try this out and see how things go

Wow! I had heard that purchasing as an individual was a day or two, but that trusts were taking a bit longer still–this is good news if the one-person-trusts (the majority of them) are going that fast.

One thing with the trusts is you can add whomever without a background check but once they are on there the ATF would have to check new names on the trust. If just you then not a lot more checking needed.

I was approved in three days on a silencer I bought individually

I bought from a local gun shop on Monday, got a 10% discount off MSRP, and was approved by ATF and picked up my Scythe-Ti suppressor on Wednesday. Very impressed.
