Sling stud questions

Anybody have any experience with the sling stud adapters to convert the studs into small sections of pic rail instead? I would like to try to get either of those on the bottom of my Tikka T3x for a better bipod attachment site but am unsure if it would be worth the investment.

Jim, in one of the podcast episodes you talked about how you would rip the sling studs out of any rifle and glue in QD flush cups instead… do you think you could do that with a standard Tikka T3x stock? I feel like it is such a thin polymer stock that it would not work.

Found this article that describes how to do what you’re asking…hope it helps!

QD cup install

I have not done it yet on a stock that thin, but I would think it’d work. I should try it and make a video for y’all.

I put a Salmon River STS PIC+Arca where the stud was. Rails – Salmon River Solutions
I use same stud swivel on sling to connect to the new base. Pic for bipod and arca for tripod shooting.

Seems like good stuff. Comes with all hardware. Not affiliated with them other than as a customer
I put on Sav 110 ultralite. Don’t know about Tikka stocks

Caldwell makes what you are describing. This is a Ruger American Go Wild in 22WMR. It has a Sightmark Wraith 4k Mini NV. I needed a way to attach an IR Illuminator, so this worked perfectly. It also helped that the illuminator was under the barrel.

Yep that’s it! Would you say it attaches pretty securely? Or is there some side to side play in it?

Definitely rigid. No movement at all

I just did this to both a Savage 110 Ultralight and a Weatherby Vanguard using those same instructions @PM717 posted. The only difference was I used one size smaller drill bit, then used a 9/16 threading tap to create threads for the cups to screw in tightly. Between the epoxy and the threads it’s pretty solid. Used a similar method to install the Spartan bipod Gunsmith adapters.
