Springfield 2020 Redline

Hey Jim and community what are first thoughts on Springfield 2020 Redline. I’m in the market for a 2020. Let’s hear your thoughts.

Was surprised to see Springfield sending out new variations of that rifle when they are already hard to find. Personally I’m not seeing the appeal of the redline since the price looks almost the same as the normal model.

If you’re looking for that kind of rifle though, do consider the Bergara Crest and Fierce Rogue as well.

Looks like the waypoint in a less expensive stock. I really wish they would expand caliber choices.

I know!

I say the same regarding the SIG Cross and Bergara MG Lite.

I’ve handled a few and they seemed nice but I never shot it. One of the local gun stores had 3 one week and they were gone the following week when some ammo I ordered came in. They were selling at or above MSRP at the time and for ~$2500 I believe there are better options. $500 more gets you an entry level custom and a $1000 less gets you some other nice factory rifles. If you can snag one in a carbon barrel for $16-1800 then I say go for it but when it’s selling at MSRP it’s a pass for me personally.

Yeah the price on these is kinda out there. But, I do like the concept, reminiscent of the Remington model 7, and their marketing draws on references to the “scout rifle” concept as well, though it doesn’t have a lot of the other scout-esque features like iron sights and a forward mounted pic rail. It is still a handy looking rifle with a short barrel (16"), and is very lightweight, so should be easy to pack around. I think you could find similar features for way less though and I am not sure what the distinguishing characteristics are here to set it apart from the crowd.
