Barrel contours.
Just got my first pre-fit custom barrel in. A friend had recommended a medium Palma, and I listened without doing any research.
This thing is much thicker and heavier than i expected.
What contours are best for hunting vs plinking vs competition…
I have spent too little time researching this as well but it is something I deffinately want to know. Especially before I build my next custom.
I prefer medium weight barrels. Light barrels an are a nightmare at the range because they lose accuracy so fast as they heat up.
Something like a heavy sporter or a fluted medium Palma for the magnums is what I like. Since you’re wanting something lighter, I might go to a medium sporter, which would be around 2 lbs lighter than what you got.
Yeah, I’ve had thin barreled rifles and hated them.
This is too much of a change though.
