Hunting deer this fall in Idaho, I want to do some scouting this summer and find some good bucks to be after, I normally just show up the day before the opener and scout a decent buck then go after him the following morning, But i think this year I wanna be a little more picky on which buck I wanna take, what are some tips to find those big bucks earlier in the summer?

Kinda tough to scout much in the summer when the deer are up high in the mountain and then hope to find them in the fall. I’ve found it more helpful to look for rubs and other sign down lower in the mountains to know what areas they’ll be in.
I second what Jim said. If possible I would rather show up to a unit a couple days before the hunt over scouting in the summer.
