I’m looking to buy my first suppressor for a 6.5 PRC in a Backlight chassis with a Tikka action and 22in Proof Carbon barrel from Preece Precision, topped with a Leupold VX5-HD 3x15-44 scope. Primarily whitetail hunting with an occasion western hunt and some range shooting on our property. Direct threaded and would prefer lower weight and length. I’m leaning towards a dedicated can unless you convince me otherwise (6.5 vs .300 cal can). There are lots of threads, videos and offerings. Any suggestions?
SilencerCo Scythe Ti, Airlock 6.5, Banish, TBAC, Predator 6.5, US OG 6.5, Omega 300, Dead Air Nomad, Thunder Chicken, Rugged Alaskan, others.
I have 6 cans now, 2, 30cal a 9mm and 45mm and 2, 22cal cans… I’m shopping hard for another can but looking at the going light! The SilencerCo Scythe TI is a solid can and has been a top performer, plus if you buy before 8/15 you get a $250 gift card to use at SilencerCo website for accessories for it. I’m leaning on these 3 for my next can in this order
Stealth Additive Works OREV 30
Airlock Zero Gravity 30
Tenet Limited 30
I don’t see a benefit of a caliber specific 6.5 can and noise reduction is basically the same with a 30, and you never know when you might want to shoot something bigger then a 6.5cal… here’s a good 6.5 comparison video and that Stealth Additive Works (SAW) is right in there in the top 5 but is super lightweight.
First of all, the build you picked looks absolutely PERFECT!
For the can, I hear lots of people liking the Scythe Ti, but I’ve also seen WAY too many photos of blown up Scythe Ti cans. Virtually every pic I see on social lately of a blow up is a Scythe. So I’m wary of it.
My favorite suppressor is probably the Bergara, followed by the Dead Air Nomad. I’m sure there are better ones and I haven’t tried anywhere near all of them, but I do like those.
I have the Bergara BTI 30 and it does great. I also have a couple other can but my best can is now the Banish 30 with the Banish Suppressor Break. Can with full break are legit, better than the Scythe Ti or BTI30 breaks. I can spot my impacts with my 6.5 CM at 100 with it, but couldn’t before adding the break.
That said, my next can after winning the lottery is the Tenet Limited 30 with the Horizon 2 port break.
I run the QD version, but I adore my Thunderbeast Ultra 7 gen II. Quick switch between 7PRC mountain rifle and 6ARC in an AR platform. very quiet and built around precision. I’m certain the direct thread will be just as awesome!
I have the dead air on my 6.5prc. Great noise suppression. No issues shooting a couple shots without ear pro and lightweight. Would definitely recommend
Everything mentioned above will work. I own 7 rifle cans. I think the Dead Air Nomad Ti XC with their E-brake would be very nice for your rifle. I’ve used mine with all the PRC cartridges. If you want shorter but equal performance and are willing to use their Xeno adaptor, the Nomad OTB is very good, and you can put their E-brake on it as well. Although most of my cans are direct thread, I have noticed that they come loose on occasion you must check direct thread cans often, in my experience. With the Nomad OTB attached to the Zeno, it does not come loose yet it’s easy to remove by hand.
