Looking at getting me a suppressor. Anyone have an idea on the current wait times with paperwork and what not?
I ordered one from Capitol Armory on June 12th. Mine is supposed to ship any day now as I have received the shipping label a few days ago. Approval took just a few days once I got my fingerprints to them. Then there is a 7 day waiting period after Form 4 is approved and the local police chief gets notified. Its 7 days after he recieved it. Mine had to be mailed but if that local chief can recieve notice by electronic means the wait time would be shorter. Even with all that I should have mine right about a month after ordering it.
Wait times are dependent upon
- Individual versus trust. Individual is faster
- This one might be a bit more hearsay, but whether or not it’s your first application or not
- Whether there’s anything on your history that is going to flag up on the background check
My last several applications which are Trust took roughly anywhere from 2 days to 7 days for approval.
If you use silencer shop, the biggest wait time is waiting for them to ship the suppressor to your local dealer. If you use Capital Armory as mentioned above the largest wait time is that 7-Day wait for your Cleo.
2 to 7 days sounds about right for what I’m seeing.
I went thru Silencer Central, set up a trust, and the whole process took 31 days from purchase to delivery. I would have had it earlier but I had to delay shipping a couple of days so that I could be available to take delivery.
Yes. I think if you buy it from a physical store you will have it in your possession in a week or so.
Not sure if it is where you buy it from or what. Silencer shop took almost 4 weeks to get me 2 on separate orders. I ordered direct through Silencer Co (they are my FFL) and it was 2 weeks. I did go pick it up instead of having it shipped since I live close to there MFG warehouse.
I went in on a Thursday afternoon, and had the green light to pick it up on Monday 3 1/2 days was like wow! But did single gun trust… as I really don’t care what happens to my suppressor after I die,

My eform was submitted 7/3- still waiting to hear from the ATF. On the day it was submitted they were saying 13 days for turnaround, plus 7 day LE notification period. I expect to have the stamp this coming week and the Backcountry next week.
I got mine back in less than 2 weeks with the purchase done June 28th
Except you can buy from your lgs and just use silencer shop for the paperwork. As long as the lgs is part of ss network
True, but the last time I did that it still took silencer shop over two weeks to submit the form 4
But its you and lgs that submits the paperwork through the silencer shop portal. Silencer shop just generates the documents when lgs enters the purchase into silencer shop. It is a different process from when you buy a can from silencer shop and it ships to your lgs.
