Jim, I don’t hunt anymore but still get great info here. I watched your videos so much, I got my moneys worth before I joined. I am a target shooter. I’m practicing BR and hope to compete by 2nd qtr next year. How about show some love for the SFP scopes and talk about windage correction…mirage, trees, flags, reading wind effect on the target(animal)…windage is the universal equalizer for all shooting beyond point blank…Alan…
For hunting all I use is Leupold 2nd focal …Just because I’m old enough that is what I am comfortable with. VX 3 HD and VX 3I.
Thanks Robert, I’ll check those out. I’m lookng to do a build next year that will let me reach out to 1000yards. 2nd FP with a fine reticle is the only way to go…
Interesting how different disciplines in shooting require such different approaches. For me, I only want FFP because my shooting is all about distance. For others, SFP is preferred.
I haven’t had much exposure to benchrest but I have a friend who likes it and has taken me out to see how it’s done a couple times. Looks fun.
I have 2 Vortex FFP and enjoy using them. I think FFP is better for hunting. Shooting at a range whether BR or F Class is always known distance. Targets and their rings are in inches which makes MOA preferable. I went that route because it seemed a more natural choice. Probably because of my Boy Scout compass training. I can see mils being preferred when ranging targets, especially in law enforcement or tactical engagments…
