I’ve been having fun helping my young neighbor get started hunting/rifle shooting. He just received a new Tikka T3 Roughneck in 6.5 Creedmoor. I mounted an old VX3 3.5 x 10 in Talley lightweight rings, grabbed some of my hand loads and we headed to the range yesterday to sight it in. After a couple of shots to get it centered this is the very first group he shot, bullet is a 140 Sierra Game King. See attached 100 yd 3 shot group. He then shot a second group, still all touching. Talk about a fun killer, no load development, no bullet selection, no looking for the ideal powder, no playing with seating depth….Nothing to do but load up a couple of boxes and look for a whitetail!

Great to see. What’s the load you are using?
It’s almost embarrassing. Since I was helping a neophyte sight in a new gun I brought a ziplock full of loads I’d whipped up for my brother in law to practice from sticks, not my usual stuff. Load is lead tipped 140 Sierra game king, 42 grains WW760 (the dregs of a very old can) CCI BR4 , Lapua brass, 2.62 OAL.
He also shot my 140ELD Match long range prairie dog load. Not as accurate but still 3/4 inch or so. Probably almost as surprising, he’d only shot from a bench once before.
