So looking at the Tikka’s is the cheap T3x lite basically the same barreled action as all the other lite series that go up to $2000+ dollars? Just without all the lipstick? Or can I get a Tikka T3x lite compact brand new for $575 after there rebate, and then put my own lipstick on it that suits me… or are you really gaining something different in action and barrel with the more expensive models
They all have the same barrel quality. Only change is length, thickness, and fluting on some barrels. So I generally just recommend the Tikka T3x lite. However the supervarmint has a thicker barrel that I like if you don’t mind the weight. I wish they put that thicker barrel on one of their cheaper models.
@backfire Looking at the price of the Super varmint and comparing it with the Tikka Ace (game or target), wouldn’t you just go with the Tikka Ace?
Is there really any benefit going stainless over black steel besides the fact stainless is better weather proof?
For me the biggest negative of the Tikka Lite is the stock which I changed out. I think this change out should be considered in the total costs.
Possibly so. I had seen a super varmint for sale for $1200 so I thought that was the going rate but now they all seem to be around $1600.
At that price I’d probably say neither and just buy the Tikka T3x lite and an aftermarket barrel.
