So I know Steel Actions are stronger and Titanium are lighter. But what about the “smoothness” factor of the action. I really like the light weight factor of the CT Rogue, But I am concerned about the buttery smoothness. I want to make sure my action is the mostest buttery smooth as action. Anybody have either or both? Or recommend one way or the other? And why please.
WHile I don’t have personal experience with titanium, I have always heard it is stickier. For me, not worth it.
I don’t like the fierce titanium actions. I’d rather have the weight of the steel.
So Jim @backfire that video you made a couple years ago of the Carbon Rogue. You mentioned it ways weighs ways like 5.3 to 5.9 lb. Is that for the titanium action then? Because looking on their website it looks like the carbon rogues and still action weigh about 6.3 lb. Just curious if I’m missing a disconnect. Thank you!
I don’t really remember but I’m pretty sure the one I reviewed was a steel action. Maybe they made a change to something that slightly increased the weight?
I have both the zermat tl3 steel and the zermat ti3 titanium actions in different builds. With their DLC coating they both are great. Dont really notice a difference. Not tried the others but i am happy with mine.
Is that the action that Fierce Firearms uses?
No, Fierce uses its own ( or if they do use somebody else’s, they don’t advertise it)
I have a Fierce CT Edge in 300 WSM. Its one of my favorite rifles and shoots great. I got a thumbhole stock which adds about 4 oz or so vs regular if my memory serves me correctly. Total weight of the gun with z5 6-18 scope is just a touch over 7 lbs and that is after I switched to a pic rail base.
If they offer a DLC coating i highly recommend it
Did you notice any issues with it not being buttery smooth? I love the idea of super lite. But also want a super duper smooth action.
My action is tight and smooth. You may be able to test drive a titanium action at one of the sporting good stores near you as Fierce now sells their rifles OTC.
