Well guys, a lot of hiking and glassing, and got a cow down w 4 min of shooting light left. It was a long night. If anyone has any doubts about hunting with eldm’s, this was my first time, and I don’t know if I’ll hunt with anything else now. 1 shot kill, dropped her on the spot. 7prc 180 eldm. 2780mv 230 yards - 2537 impact velocity. No exit but went through the shoulder and landed somewhere in the offside hide. Couldn’t find the bullet. Wound cavity was massive. Her insides looked like soup.
Congrats. Long pack out?
Thanks Ben. We were fortunate, they came into an alfalfa field and we were able to get a side by side most of the way to them. Just a late night quartering her out. It was crazy, there still bulls bugling around us while we were dressing her. Pretty cool experience for a first elk hunt. Hunted about 14 hours and hiked 7mi all to have it happen in about the most ideal spot possible, close to where we were staying
Awesome, congratulations!!
Congrats! Bbq at your house!
