What are your recommendations for a sleeping bag? I’ll be elk hunting the early rifle in Utah. I’m going to do the process based hunter elk course.
I love the Stone Glacier Chilkoot. Super lightweight and extremely warm. Mine is the 0 degree which is really versatile because it’s warm enough for the cold hunts and in warmer hunts I just don’t zip it up. For me, it’s perfect.
I use a Thermarest Questar 20 deg bag on top of a Sea to Summit Ether Lite Pro pad which has an incredible ASTM R rating of 7.1 , if it gets real cold i pack a bag liner.
I live in Washington but born and raised in Utah I remember Scout camp in the High Unitas and Spanish Fork Canyon deer and elk hunting. I know id be comfy with my set up in those conditions.
Theres so many great options out there. Good luck!
The Chilkoot 15 degree is on GoHunt now for triple points - if you’re thinking to go in that direction.
I went with the Zenbivy 10 degree quilt. Camped at 11,300 last year. I started naked & had to put on base layer in the night most nights, I am a hot sleeper though. I like the freedom of the quilt, no way I could do a mummy bag.
