Vortex Optics help

Which would y’all recommend between the Vortex Viper PST 2 5-25 vs the Viper HD 3-15?
It would be for hunting, but almost every scope that I own in FFP. Price difference would be $30

Jim what do you think?

I’m not a huge Viper fan because of the glass quality and stuff magnification ring, but I’d probably pick a 3-15 for most hunting. Personally, I like a 5-25 for western hunti mg though.

I have a PST II 5-25x50. I really like it a lot, but for the money I think I would go with the Arken EPL-4 6-24x50. I have 2 of them I switch out on my gas guns when i go to glass rather than thermal.

So the Viper PST is one of the most overrated scopes of all time. So many of them out there… now at the time it was released it was a great deal. But there are so many better options now in that category. The PST is marketed for target shooting more than hunting though. The new Viper HD is WAY better glass and marketed for hunting specifically. It is much closer to the Razor than the old Viper. It is second focal plane, which is the correct option for hunting (sorry FFP fanboys). The 3-15 is the way to go, but pay attention because it comes as capped turrets and another version is exposed. Be sure you get the one you want. The 5-25 has terrible eye box, small exit pupil. Not good, just go with 3-15.
