Hey so I have the opportunity to buy a vortex viper HS-T 6-24x50 on a great deal.
I’m just curious what everyone’s experience has been with them. I may is an older model so I’m concerned that the technology/quality won’t be what I’m expecting. Yes it is originally a $1000 scope, but have a lot of different options available to us now. Just wondering if it is a good scope or worth the roughly $390 id pay for it
I’m in the same boat right now. I have a good deal on one I’m wondering about getting but I believe it does not have a zero stop and that’s what’s holding me back right now.
Lately, I haven’t heard very positive comments about Vortex, regardless of line, except for the warranty. Razor is too expensive period, Viper is too expensive compared to it’s comparables, Diamondback tactical is still OK for the price but there are better options.
I have come to learn that when you see something seriously marked down there is a reason. Maybe it won’t move and the seller is clearning inventory. Maybe the Manufacturer is coming out with something to replace it and again the seller is clearing inventory.
So if I know the product and like it and need it, I buy it and try to be happy with the deal. If I have questions, I have learned to let it pass. That’s my experience though and it certainly isn’t gospel.
After I posted this, I did some more research and got on some forums on rokslide and i decided I’m not gonna do it. I’ve been loving arken lately and decided that a $1000 scope from 10 years ago is probably not going to impress me when there are so many other options nowadays.
I have also heard mixed reviews on vortex lately. I think it used to be great but now that there are a lot of other options, they are kind of slipping.
I don’t know what you’re hearing about Vortex, but my experience (your mileage may vary), having used Vortex optics here in Alaska for every hint I’ve been on, is that they work, the warranty is fantastic (only used it once one a spotter that I dropped, and Vortex made it right even though it was my fault), and I have harvested three caribou, three moose, and one bear. They are heavier than some of the competition, but for the money, they have performed very admirably every time I have used them. BTW, I use their binos, spotters, and range finders. On my son’s, my wife’s, and my rifles we run the Viper series scopes. Hope this helps:sunglasses:
