The 6.5CM +Peak has caused more excitement than I’ve ever seen in the industry except for maybe the 7 PRC. Hornady has to have something on development at this point to compete. What cartridge do you think they start with?
Well, the snarky side of me says 7prc. Then they would be actually able to achieve the velocity with it that they originally started with, and what still shows up on their ammo boxes as the velocity

I don’t see them paying Federal for the rights to use the +Peak alloy. They haven’t touched the 7 BC publicly, haven’t bothered with any of the new .277 cartridges. Hornady being a marketing machine first isn’t interested in following trends they haven’t been the originator of. Living in Nebraska I see them trying to bury anything new that isn’t there’s.

I’ve been wondering the same thing. There’s something to be said for the claim that they refuse to adopt anyone else’s good idea. It’s also reasonable to assume the folks running the company aren’t stupid and can see the writing on the wall; i.e., know the future is in (or at least there’s money to be made with) higher pressure loads with cases and powders in existing chamberings that provide a significant jump in velocity without a commensurate jump in recoil. Steve Hornady would have to be a fool to ignore this.
My guess will be 25 creed on steroids. If you do the numbers, a 25-06 velocity round but with a fast enough twist to stabilize high bc bullets would be INSANE!
