What is the archery equivalent of Tikka/Sako?

Who is making a great bow these days? Is there a consensus “best” manufacturer? What should someone brand new to archery look for?

I love my Mathews and my son prefers his Hoyt. Those are both tier companies

The PSE Mach 30 is the bow of the year, but for me it’s a lot like a handgun… what feels best in your hand and flings that arrow best for you.

I shoot the 2018 Prime Logic, for me hunting white tail, it’s perfect.

They’re all making good bows. I shoot a mathews, but PSE, Hoyt and lots of others are just as good.

I agree with the others. Ive shot pse, bowtech, hoyt, mathews. Carbon and aluminum. 500-3000$. They’re all good bows. It comes down to what feels good to you, and what you can shoot the best which unfortunately you cant figure that part out at the store. Typical the fastest bows in my opinion are less forgiving. My favorite has always been Mathews.

Regarding that, it depends on the store. At Scheels or the like I would agree, but if you have an archery pro shop available, they will let you shoot a new bow so you get a feel. Its why I went with the Prime - it felt the best in my hand and after release.

I would seriously go to your pro shop and shoot them all and see which feels right.

Thanks for the advice all! I’ll find a pro shop near me and see what feels best amount the recommended brands from you all.

I’d recommend finding a local bow shop. Find a guy who owns the store and loves the game - He will likely take time to find the perfect fit for you and will actually have been out in the woods with a bow in his hands. The big box stores are okay if you are looking for something specific, but I’ve found the real experts are in the local “mom and pop’s”. If you are in Arizona, go to Bear Mountain Archery in Mesa for example. It’s not a fancy store… but they know their stuff.

I ordered a Darton Conquest a very smooth draw cycle is what sold me plus for those that the 70 lb is 330 fps rated. Very solidly built ckeck out theutube vids on it!

I would agree with Danny. Find a local guy with a descent selection with an indoor range. I have a Hoyt. About a year ago I was looking to get a second bow, looking at Prime and Mathews Archery. I had one of the salesman do a an arm measure and then had me try out a bunch of different bows. Ended up leaving with a recurve bow.

Had not heard of it before. Googled it and looked it up. What I like about theirs is that they offer a bow with a “short draw” which would be perfect for me since I don’t have a long draw.

I would say to go to a shop and try one then you will know if it is for you and what you need
