I am looking for a new source of news. I am just fed up with ediotrials being presented as journalism. Where do you all go for reputible news? I hoping someone has found a source that is unbiased to the left or the right and that doesn’t have an agenda other than to inform on facts.
I listen to the Morning Wire podcast which I enjoy. Other than that, just X. I feel like X is the only place to really know what’s happening in the world. Nearly every news story, I learn some MAJOR detail they’re “forgetting” to tell us that I learn about on X. I’m @backfirejim on there.
I think the reason your having a hard time finding objective journalism is because the idea of an objective journalism is a bit flawed, especially when it comes to politics. Here is how I see it. No matter how hard someone were to try to be objective, their bias will inevitably slip through. Meanwhile the label of “Journalist” gives cover for people who want to push agendas. I stay away from “objective journalism” and listen to people who openly state their convictions and biases so I can take them into account. if you want politics with an unbiased view the only option is to watch c-span.
With all that said, I usually listen to Ben Shapiro from the DailyWire, I think he provides good insight, especially on legal issues. I also listen to “The Briefing” by Albert Mohler. He is the president Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and gives you the news through a Christian worldview.
Try UnBiased podcast or newsletter. Honestly, I don’t have time to listen to podcasts or just get bored with them. I do subscribed to Epoch Times and get the headlines from there as well.
WSJ is good in my opinion; the stuff outside of the opinion section is factual and even the opinion section editorials are fairly even-handed in criticizing both parties. My only quibble is that there’s a definite bias in fiscal and regulatory issues towards the interests of the financial sector but you can’t have everything.
Any news source in business to make a profit is going to have bias to do what is necessary to sell advertising for revenue.
The other thing is whether the anchors and reporters are actually journalists or just entertainers playing to the viewers that bankroll the operation. These days it seems there are more entertainers than journalists.
I think the best thing to do is not go to a single source to avoid complete bias and get different perspectives: center, left, right…
Flip the channel. You may hear what you need to hear and not just what you want to hear.
Unfortunately most ‘news’ is really just opinion and shill for one side or the other and mostly a sensationalist vehicle to sell products and advertising. And to make one side feel more right and better that the other. Classic control based marketing. Look up Edward Bernays. Ther is a great documentary. He created advertising as we know It and it’s the mechanizing behind all of our issues today. He’s the nefew of Freud will really open some eyes.https://youtu.be/KNxn2FT-duw?si=KOOzkoAp93AD4J9J
It’s both sides. I’d start by reviewing your media for bias sources on all sides AllSides | Balanced news and media bias ratings. Unbiased news doesn't exist. This site will give you news bland news and tell you what all Sides are saying color coded. they publish a graph that is updated regularly to show you the leanings of all news outlets from right to lean right to middle to lean left to left https://www.allsides.com/media-bias/media-bias-chart that’s to gauge what you listen to and remember the sides we listen to leave out more than 50% of the view
I also do not believe anything on social media check It all every meme through snopes https://www.snopes.com/ it’s the best buklsit detector It will tell you if It’s real somewhat truthful somewhat false and or true X, Facebook, tick tock, YouTube instagram all of It is riddled with foreign bad actors the Chinese Russians any country with an agenda and skin in the game on the state of the USA
Personally I get the 1440 ,https://join1440.com/ ,every morning pure middle road. Read the wall street journal which is dead middle (opinion might lean slightly right)
I get the tangle news letter that is brilliant reporting where you get both sides coverage quoted and then the facts. After that the opinion of the editor which is very moderate https://www.readtangle.com/
As It turns out the editors of wsj and tangle are viewed as liberal from the right and conservative from the left. With reporting like this one can actually make ther own choice not just live on the spin they get fed.
@order4lh this is brilliant and concise kudos. I’d add if one gets info from X, Facebook, tick tock or you tube one best use www.snoops.com or the like to vet. Remember these billionaire owned platforms are riddled with bots, Chinese, Russian and other actors all bent on influencing our Mr public discourse most all of It is just either Fake or highly colorized. Oligarchs thrive in Chaos not stability we are in a new era of political sway. It’s no longer the corporations it’s the wealthiest members of society with agendas and having all of this pure hatred between left and right only serves to lay the ground work for them to exert more control and build mor wealth. End rant
Looks like no such thing as a true journalist anymore. Everybody doing the agenda push. I listen/watch more conservative minded outlets. X is a good place to get whatever you are looking for and I appreciate the comments which get replies.
