Ok, I have my Backlight Chassis, now I’m just deciding between the Bergara Premier and the Weatherby 307 barreled actions. Any preferences out there between the two?
For the money what Euro Optic/ScopeList is selling Bergara premier barreled action for under $1100 you can’t go wrong, if your not looking for a carbon fiber barrel. Pacific tool and gauge has the best prices on 307 actions
I really like the Bergara Premier steel barreled action. I have seen some accuracy issues with the carbon fiber variants. Some CF were good, others bad.
The Weatherby action is great but I haven’t tried the barreled action.
I was set on the Bergara action and then I read that it has a coned bolt face, so you just can’t grab any REM 700 prefit barrel to swap out, it has to be machined to the Bergara specs. Otherwise you have to take your barrel blank to a gunsmith to mill it out correctly so you avoid head spacing issues.
I just put a prefit barrel with barrel nut on my Bergara premier action. No problem.
Neither. Go with a barrel from a good custom barrel maker with a track record for quality and accuracy. Hart, Bartlein or Kreiger come to mind. Have used both Bartlein and Kreiger and both are excellent choices for match grade barrels. Also be careful of who you have install the barrel to the action. Not all gunsmiths are up to the task.
I highly recommend checking out Preferred Barrel Blanks
Or get on the list for one of these, as you haven’t said what action or caliber etc…basically your Horizon Firearm barreled action
7prc for the caliber with either a 22” or 24” barrel. The Bergara Premier is a 24” 5.5 profile stainless steel barrel.
I have one of the actions i dropped into a MDT ORYX chassis with limited one off color patterns if youre intersted
Thanks for the offer, but I went ahead and ordered the Bergara last night. It’s my first semi custom build so hopefully it goes well.
