I’ve got a couple of first focal plane scopes on my rifles that are more target/plinking oriented. However I’ve never found one that had a good reticle that I would want to use for hunting. Primary issue is at low magnification just can’t see anything.
Also, for hunting don’t want one that’s too darn busy
Was thinking about trying a new one however specifically on a hunting rifle and wanted to see who made the better reticles for this type of application without having to buy one, then find that I don’t like it, sell it purchase another, Etc
Arken LH-4; glass isn’t too fancy but its FFP, turrets are capped and track correctly, and the reticle is accurate and useful instead of the nonsense you find on a lot of hunting scopes.
EDIT: A little bit more upmarket, Meopta Optika 6 scopes are fantastic and have some decent reticles; just make sure you’re looking at the right SKU because they have some really awful ones sprinkled in.
Have you considered one with illumination? If the crosshairs are hard to see, you can just turn on illumination to help.
I find it’s very specific to each person’s eyes. Personally, I rarely have issues seeing the reticle so I’m not as sensitive to it as some people. So be sure to check it in a store before you buy.
Yes, almost certainly going to get an illuminated version for that specific reason. Unfortunately ffp Scopes are a rare thing in the stores around here, other than a few lvpo offerings.
