Witt Machine suppressors

Has anyone shot one of these? If so, how is the quality and sound suppression? At $300 they are extremely inexpensive.

Does Witt machine help you with the ATF paper work like silencer central? I’m assuming no, but can’t find anything on their website.

I am not having the best experience with Witt. I placed an order with them for the Freakin 45 on Dec 1. Got them set up with my FFL a week later as I was pretty busy. Got confirmation from Witt that they were in communication with my FFL. Radio slience after that. Finally spoke with my FFL yesterday (actually, I spoke with them in Jan and early Feb as well) and they told me that Witt hasn’t communicated with them nor sent the supressor so that they can do their part with the ATF. I have emailed and Witt and haven’t heard back at all. I cannot find a phone number for them, otherwise I would call. At this point, I say buyer beware.

OK - this motivated me to call (found the number) and they explained they are order then build. Still quite small, only 6 full time employees so everything takes a bit of time. No cans on the shelf. The lady at the front desk, who I spoke with, is very helpful and it colors my experience much better now.

Do they process the ATF paperwork or does your FFL have to do that?

Witt does 1 form, your Ffl does the others (i think)

Does Witt process the $200 ATF tax stamp?

Your FFL will have to, Witt does not.

Thanks. Hope you get it soon. Let us know how it performs!

To reiterate what Ben said. The suppressor manufacturer builds the can and will ship it to your FFL. At that point, you and the FFL fill out all the paperwork, you pay the FFL the $200 tax stamp, then you wait for approval.

I have a dirty 30. Took about 2 months from time of order to time of manufacture and ship to my ffl. This was early 2024. I put mine in a trust and overall time from order placed to received in my hands was about 6 months. I dont have a super amount of experience with suppressors but ive shot a few other higher end ones. You get what you pay for. It works but not as well as others but for the price its not a bad buy. Ive used it on a 26" barrel 6.5 creedmoor, a 16" barrel 300 blackout and a 16" barrel 5.56 AR. Honestly, it was the loudest on my AR. I will say though, its not gassy to the nose on any of them, although, as expected, it ran really dirty on my AR. Would i buy from them again? For the price, yes, but it is a bit of a pain.

Update on the Freakin 45:

Its been sent to my FFL. Ordered in early Dec. Delivered to FFL in late late March, so about 4 months. FFL uses Silencer Shop and their estimate for ATF Approval for Trusts is about 2 weeks. We’ll see.

I will say this - I will probably only purchase a supressor from Silencer Central or Silencer Shop in the future. It is way too complicated a process for me to deal with, the forms and the back and forth to get every entity on the same page. The few hudred dollars saved isn’t chump change, but its also worth it for someone else to deal with all this crap.

You might also want to check out Capital Armory in the future if you want to buy another. They make it pretty easy assuming they deliver to your state.

OK, I finally have the Freakin 45 and it looks great on my Marlin. Haven’t shot it yet though.

Finally shot this yesterday - zeroing the scope and gennerally just having fun shoting it. You’ll notice that I have Backstop on it - with Jim’s help I found that the Sako 90 Backstop fits just about perfect on the Ranger Point stock. That is a massive game changer for the kick of the 45-70. Add the supressor and it was pretty managable.

OK - so the Freakin 45 works as advertised. It quiets the boom enough and is barely louder than my 300BO shooting subs. And honestly, shooting subs made me laugh it was so fun. For the price, these supressors are the best value per decible reduced. If the Dirty 30 was a couple ounces lighter, it would be the ultimate backcountry suppressor as its only 4" long.

Part of what made this process suck for me was that I was new to Silencer Shop and didn’t have all my data in their system. If I bought from Witt again, it would be easier. But, my FFL was so intrigued by them they are looking to become a retailer, so it might just get a lot easier for me.

On this side of it, I would recommend them. Just go into it with your eyes open.

I purchase 2 of there suppressors and so far the only thing they excel at is collecting my money. 5 weeks in and nothing, communication is a joke and you can’t get them on the phone. Finally got them to answer email and they said they were working on it. Buyer beware I will let you know when I have more to report

Purchased April 4, finally received by my ffl and Silencer shop had paper work done that day and ffl got my pin and started the process with ATF June 5 we are at 60 days and Trust usually take week or 2

Is this your first one using that particular trust?

Individual I was getting back in 2-3 days since switching to Trust the 3 previous have taken 14-16 days I need to stop buying cans but I just retired and have been catching up for the 45 years of 60 hr weeks Live my toys

I wrote this in a previous post, but Witt is a very small outfit. They don’t have stock on the shelves so orders are first come first serve on manufacture. They take a while.
