I hunted antelope in Wyoming last year. It was my first antelope hunt, and I used GoHunt to help plan it. Last year we hunted Area 52-2, and it was amazing. My buddy and I both got good bucks within the first couple days.
I don’t remember the exact draw odds, but I’m positive GoHunt showed close to 100% draw odds for the nonresident special tag for 2025. The success rate was also listed in the 90% range. Since the area was closer to home, it seemed like a great option for a first hunt. We saw a lot of nice bucks, and according to other hunters, we harvested some pretty good ones.
Fast forward to this year, and now the stats on GoHunt have completely changed — not only for this year, but even for last year. This year shows predictive draw odds of 2.9% for the same tag, and last year now shows 4.2%.
We had zero points both years, and we applied as a group of two. There’s just no way both of us drew a tag with what would have effectively been a 4.2% draw chance.
Is it normal for these statistics to change that drastically? Did we really just get that LUCKY???
