I was scrolling through twitter/X when the assassination attempt on former President Trump happened on Saturday. I have been locked onto the app since them and what is coming out lately is really sad/discouraging from so many in our nation. There are many threads to this, but one I wanted to bring up here is the ignorance so many on the left or those who seem to be left have about shooting & .223 AR platform rifles.
The first comments I started seeing were that the attempt was staged. I don’t care how narcisstic a person is, who is letting anyone shoot at them from 150 yards. The idea of it is ludicrous. Do people not understand how difficult it is to hit a tiny target at 150 yards… a moving target at that? There is no way this is staged. I am so dumbfounded by those who think this is a rational thought.
The second is that a AR rifle does incalculable damage to a body, so much so that DNA tests are required to identified someone struck by an AR15. Please don’t correct my language usage, I am repeated what I read.
I am so saddened that so many Americans have such polarized opinions on something they CLEARLY understand little to nothing about.
Rather than hate and tear down these folks, does anyone have a thought on how we move forward with how to educate? I am teaching those around me, but my circle of influence is really small, but I am willing to do more if someone knows of a way.
Thanks
