Thinking about getting a 7PRC. What should I go with?

I actually just watched that video. I really wish that Bergara would come out with one soon, new carbon rifles they have are sweet. Out of the ones available right now I think fierce would be my best option.

Just curious

I’ve seen a few Proof Elevations available online in 7 PRC.

Thoughts? They are neither on your go or no-go lists.

Thanks

Really depends on your budget but if it allows then maybe a custom action and prefit until next year.

Does anyone know when bergara will come out with a rifle chambered in it?

I’m in pretty good contract with the Bergara people and haven’t heard any news of an imminent release of 7 prc for them. I was told when they do get it, it will first be in the premier line.

Jim I know your probably can’t say but do you know of any other good brands that are going to come out with one?

I don’t know of any coming imminently. Big holdouts are Bergara and Tikka and they don’t seem to be in a rush.

Tikka still doesn’t make a 300 PRC.

They probably aren’t in a hurry

Tikka may not ever make a 300prc because it doesn’t fit in their action.

Isn’t it the same length as a 300 Win mag?

Max COAL for 300 prc is longer than 300 win mag.

I bought a Savage 110 ultralight in 7mm PRC. Pluses are barrel and recoil pad. Not bad to shoot it from bench. Not so good - I feel that that the bolt action is loose and not so smooth. I have not done Jim’s feeding test yet. I put a diff. bolt knob on for more
leverage. The stock one kind of sucks. Don’t have groups yet. I have bought both Hornady match and eldx to try.

Alright Jim this question is for you. Would you go fierce rival or rouge? I like the stock on the rival but is that the only difference between the two?

I like the rival stock. That’s really the difference. Rogue has 3/4 moa guarantee while the rival is 1/2. That has nothing to do with the quality and everything to do with marketing so they are differentiated.

Both are good. Tough call.

I’ve got the same rifle in 6.5Creed and had issues with the bolt/action myself. Seems it’s pretty common in the 110 Ultralight’s. I sent mine into this place to have him install the bolt lift kit and do the bolt bushing service as well. Got it back in about a week and it really made a noticeable difference in my bolt lift. Follow up shots are much easier now and much of the grittiness in the action is gone too. He mentioned he did some polishing on certain contact points on the bolt. Anyway, figured I’d throw it out there if it was something you wanted to look into.

I saw a review of the new Weatherby 307 XP (can’t recall if it was Eastman’s or someone else) and it looks pretty nice and is offered in 7mm PRC. @Jim - any chance you’ll do a review of this model?

Jim, any updates to this list? It’s from 2023, and lots more options are available now.

I like the Ace Game, but I’m not sure I want to lug it around for hours or days. I know I could drop it into a hunting stock, but honestly, I don’t want to.

I think an 8 pound base rifle is the sweet spot, so what are options?

I thought Tikka does make factory 7 PRCs, we can get them here, and usually we are the last to get anything like that. Unless I’m missing something.
