Backfire chassis release date

Hey Jim just wondering if you have a release date for your new chassis I have a naked tikka 22 creed just waiting for it to come out!

Didn’t actually realize that Tikka is doing a 22 creed. That’s cool.

We got pushed back a bit. We spent 8 weeks designing a hinge for the chassis to make it foldable and after a lot of work, it didn’t pass my durability standard. A chassis should be a lifetime item, so I’m not happy until I can open and close the hinge 1000 times, including 20% rough closings, without any issue.

We came up with another design that is working MUCH better now. It also looks better and will save machine time and weight.

The design is pretty modern. I absolutely love it but I’m sure traditionalists will hate it.

We focused in every case on making this chassis SHOOT! Above bore recoil pad to eliminate muzzle flip, a slim grip that gets your hand right at a 90 degree trigger address, FAT AND FLAT toe angle to really increase stability, full length arca of course, but also picatinny which is a much better bipod attachment for magnums, flat carbon fiber forend, etc.

Final weight is still a little up in the air, but it’s looking like 25-29oz, which is crazy light.

I’m absolutely thrilled with how this thing is turning out. I honestly have had trouble sleeping a few times because I’m just so excited to get this across the finish line.

Our current estimate is to sell the first SMALL batch to only Backfire Plus members in December, and then launch it to the public in January.

Thanks for getting back to me so fast Jim can’t wait for the early release. By the way tikka does not make a 22 creed i have a 16” OMR barrel.

What inlets will you be supporting at the start?

For sure tikka long/short and REM 700 long/short at launch, but within a few months I want an inlet for EVERYTHING. We built it strategically to make sure inlets for different actions can be designed easily and quickly.

Just in case you’re not aware we are all very impatiently waiting for the official release!

Yep… waiting patiently,

I’ve been looking for a folding stock chassis for my deer hunt on Kodiak in 2027. I’m hoping this will fit the bill. I’m excited to see what you’ve come up with Jim.

The suspense is killing me. How about a fuzzed out picture like car companies do before a new car is released?

Do NOT share this! Ignore the colors as they are just engineering marks, but this is the basic shape.

I’m liking it! I’m assuming they’ll be plenty of room for a heavy target barrels

Yup. It’ll fit a 1.2” truck axle barrel easy.

Jim, you guys are really on to something here. That thing looks hotter than a billy goat’s butt in a pepper patch.

Jim, is it possible for you to give us dates we can expect to be able to put in preorders in Dec? I have been highly anticipating this release and am worried i wont get to it in time for my .270Win. I only own one hunting rifle and i really want to be in the first group to purchase your new chassis. Would you be willing to take a down payment or preorder?

What are you anticipating the “street price” might be? Just a range not solid numbers

$899 but plus members will get it for $799 which is exactly half the cost of the MDT HNT26 with arca and a folding mechanism like the Backlight chassis will have.

Don’t quote me on that in case things change between now and then, but that’s the plan. The goal from the beginning was to create a competitor to the HNT26 that drastically improves shoot ability, comes in at half the cost while matching it on weight.

In regards to preorders, we are going to wait until we have them ready to sell. We find it creates tons of “is it ready yet” customer service inquiries if we pre-sell anything.
