We ran into an issue. Our magnet supplier sent the wrong type of magnet. We need the super strong N52 and they sent the weak sauce fridge magnets. We use the magnet to keep the buttstock held in the folded position so it doesn’t flop around.
That was the last piece we planned to slip in today before launch on Monday but I just can’t put this out if it’s not PERFECT!
We are delaying orders for just a few days until we can get the right magnets. But the good news is we’ll have more available at launch.
I’ll keep you updated on the exact hour of launch so y’all can get first crack. No date right now as we just are waiting on those pieces.
Good news is I went out and shot it again today and oh my goodness. It really feels amazing. Balanced absolutely perfect even with a heavier barrel. 7 prc in a lightweight platform and no brake—honestly felt like a Creedmoor. The above bore recoil pad, stock lines that make sense, and a good recoil pad really change it sooo much more than I was even hoping.
Can’t wait to get this in your hands. I’m gonna be publishing the sales page on Monday with more tech specs but it’ll just show out of stock until we get the bulk order of the right magnet.
Hello, looking at the new Backlight Chassis coming out, will you be making the chassis available for browning xbolt max long range rifles with magnum length actions? I have a 300 prc and I believe that browning magnum actions are a bit longer than normal long actions. This is for one of the “first gen xbolt actions“ not their newer “xbolt 2 actions“. I called browning and said they are different lengths. So my question is simply, do you plan on making browning Xbolt magnum length action inlets in the future? If not, all good, just curious.
I wouldn’t say this publicly because people would just think I’m just trying to advertise, but when we came out with Backstop, we shot hundreds of shots on the mdt HNT 26 in 7 prc with no muzzle device. It was BRUTAL and our engineer and I would literally send photos of our bruised shoulders to each other after a day of shooting.
I tested the same setup (no muzzle device) on Backlight to see what it’d feel like. The chassis weight is the same, so I expected similar results. I was absolutely shocked. It honestly felt like a 6.5 creedmoor.
I’m loving that setup. 7 prc. Medium contour 20” barrel. Balances just slightly aft with no muzzle device. If you add a suppressor it’d probably balance slightly fore but either way very very close.
So I had thought my advice was going to be to use medium cartridges (6.5 prc or 308, etc) and down, but I really didn’t find that to be the case. Seems to handle both light and heavy cartridges well.
Only thing I’d say is if you shoot a pencil barrel with no muzzle device, you’ll probably have an odd aft balance.
