Silencer Central Reviews

Anyone had any recent experiences going through silencer central? Seen a couple reviews lately that people are saying they have been atrocious with their approval times and customer service. Ready to buy a Banish 30 but wanted to get some confidence in them before I purchase.

I did earlier this year and took 2 month at that time. Not sure how they could affect approval time. They sit with you on a video call to fill out the forms and submission.
I was kind of hoping congress would do away with the $200 tax but wishful thinking I bet. Anyways I have 2 cans through them and all was fine. Customer service was good and if any questions at any time - call them on phone and they answer immediately.

Cool! Which 2 cans do you have if you mind me asking? Are you happy with the sound suppression on them? Looking to throw that banish 30 on a 6.5 Creedmoor sig cross

I have a banish 30 and I love it but I cannot compare to anything else. I have a Banish 223 but have not used it yet. I use the 30 on lots of stuff including 6.5 CM and 300 BO and 7mm PRC. Fantastic. I wish I had 30 years ago. Make sure you get the covers - their price is as good as any. I got the disassemble kit and think worth having. Get a 9 and 7 in covers. I also got their travel holster. They are screaming hot and will burn/melt stuff they come into contact with. Even for hunting the stop the sounds with branch smacks when walking around.

@KaiHeiner I used them last year no problem if I have to guess those filed as a trust which in my opinion is the best way to go and as a rule takes longer even with the new wait times. I am waiting on one through silencershop at my local gun shop that has a kiosk n they are experiencing the same thing people that file as an individual are getting approvals asap but trusts are taking longer. Hope that helps…

I have the Banish 22 and a Backcountry on order. I love the little Banish 22 on rimfire pistols and rifles–really quiet with 22 LR, and still quite tolerable for .22 WMR/.17 HMR. Their process was easy but the wait was sooo long (ATF not Silencer Central’s fault). Supposedly that’s all improving now. I just ordered the Backcountry like 2 months ago, so we’ll see how long it takes this time around (my Banish 22 took like 8 months last year).

Banish 22 or Banish 45 is next. Having a hard time deciding. If I get the Banish 22 then I need to rebarrel my 1022 and buy a new 22 pistol. Ironic that I will buy guns to fit the can and not the other way around.

I own the Banish 45 for pistol and the Banish 30 for rifle. I just ordered another Banish 30 for a different rifle.

The Banish series of suppressors are excellent.

Cheers!

Once you do titanium I think it would be hard to do anything else.

Yep, perhaps not for a really hard use suppressor like full auto, or hard semi-auto. But for hunting, titanium is about all I use nowadays

Thanks all for the shared experiences! Going to go with the Banish 30, it seems to be a great can and a good buying process based on everyone’s thoughts. Guy I talked to must’ve been trying to steer me away from going with silencer central and spending money with them instead. Take things with a grain of salt I guess🤷‍♂️

Just a reminder to consider who in your home may be using the boom stick the can attaches to. If its mor than just you, have them do the trust. It takes longer, but it makes everyone legal.

If you are the only person on the trust then my understanding it goes almost as fast. The issue on how many they have to run checks on. Then at some point when you think you are done for a while, easy to add family to the trust without the checks.

I use a trust with only 1 responsible person. It’s definitely faster now than in the past. But nowhere near as fast as individual submissions. Ive got one from May 1 still pending, and prior one took 4 months.

And this trust has had an approval previously? I certainly do not know what the atf does differently for a single person trust vs an individual. I had heard that those trusts were not too far behind.

Oh yes, several approvals. Never had a rejection knock on wood.

Rumor out there is that they will be moving to a new workflow for trusts like they did for individuals but it hasn’t happened yet. When that happens it should speed the process up significantly more for trusts.

ok i just ordered two more cans. they have the onx deal of free tax stamp. Still have to file forms with atf and then the clock starts. Mine are trusts.

What I don’t understand is that if they do all the work to run the background checks on you, examine your trust, whatever–why do I have to go through the ringer AGAIN when I purchase another only a couple of months later? Like, the initial pass should be good for at least a year or something. Oh you want to add another suppressor, and we checked you within the last year? Good to go, send you on through. This would help reduce the backlog even more and free up resources, speed up approvals for everyone else at the same time.

Government is just 99% incompetence and like 1% luck (sometimes they might get something right, in spite of themselves).

True

That of course leads to the whole what is the actual purpose of the NFA question.

Many would argue it exists exactly to make us upset unhappy and aggravated and frustrated. Thus encouraging us not to purchase any NFA items.

I have purchased several suppressors from silencer central…no complaints. The wait time is on the ATF.
I have a Banish 30 and use it on 5.56, 300 blackout (very quiet), 6.5 Creedmore and 30-06. I got a Backstop recoil pad (from Backfire), put it on the 30-06 and with the suppressor, the recoil is no more than the Creedmore! I got thread adapters from silencer central also. They work great and give you great flexibility with your Banish 30.
Hunting with a suppressed rifle is a game changer.
Happy shooting!
