I can’t recommend any Bergara with a carbon barrel. We have tested several and they don’t shoot well without a suppressor and don’t handle heat well at all.
I think you’d be much better off with a Tikka.

Oh Wow, good to know. I guess I’ll stick with a Tikka, which was the original plan. Thank you for the heads up!!
I’m looking at picking up a Howa barreled action in 6ARC. I’d love to put it in a backfire chassis. Will you make one for the Howa short action? My son purchased the backstop recoil pad for his 7PRC and loves it! He took a nice buck on opening morning with it.
I don’t share this opinion. My 7PRC crest Carbon is a 1/2 minute gun. While I agree it’s not a great range gun, it’s still amazing for the first 5 shots at staying on target with no walking.
Jim super stoked after hunting with my cascade xt 6.5prc i determined its not practical where i hunt its 11.5 lbs.
So i just bought a T3x superlite 6.5prc with the 22” barrel and looking forward to getting in on the release.
Question Does it come with a Backstop buttpad?
Regards,
Al
In a previous post he mentioned it will have a backstop recoil pad.
Thanks for the info!
@backfire You can put me on the list for one as well.. Psyched. Will just build another why not. Just have to decide what LOL
I’d also love to be a tester for tikka t3x models if you’re looking for people. I’m buying a used 270 tikka someone brought into my shop and rebuilding to a 300winmag so if the chassis can handle larger magnums I’d definitely buy one
Count me in for one. 7mm prc if it is available on launch.
@backfire hey Jim how would this set up for 20” 7mm backcountry considering ordering a zermatt tl3/ bartlein barreled action from Viking armaments and putting It in this.
I didn’t see but will It have non 360 deg QD swivel lugs?![]()
I’m just going to pretend that I already knew before reading your comment that a qd flush cup could have a rotation-limiting feature to keep it from twisting up the sling. Will we have that feature? Now that I know that exists, yes, yes we will. Calling my engineer right now to have him design that in.
sounds like a perfect build for it!
Hey Jim, do you plan on eventually offering it for the CVA Cascade?
Definitely
So, Jim, tell me if I were to purchase one of these, what 27” barrel brand would you recommend plus all the other hardware needed to make this into a SAKO TRG 42A 338 LM copy at a fraction of the cost?
One more question for you, would it have the room/space option of adding “weights?”
Yeah, in this case we’ll want to add the weight in the rear of the chassis. We built in a spot to add weights, but it won’t be available at launch.
You’re doing a 27” barrel?!?
Yes, SAKO TRG 42A 338 LM has a 27” barrel.
